Old News 2

Last saturday (the 13th), Better Than You came to the studio and recorded for the comp :) This song is getting
saved for the comp itself, so you'll have to wait to listen. Thief. Get off my page...just kidding, but seriously,
the comp will rock when it comes out :)
In other news, Brenden from Split 66 came to the studio again tonight to remix Runaway.
The newly mixed version is up on this site, and Brenden left with an unmastered copy because he's getting it pro-mastered
somewhere! Hint to all bands: independent mastering is a very good idea. When that comes back in its newly mastered form,
I'll put it up, but for now, you can download the new remix on the Music page, as usual.
One last piece of business....the bucketcore songs have been updated! That's right. you heard it here first. Last time I
exported them for mp3, I left out a track of whammy wah guitar stuff. Now, this tragic mistake has been rectified, and the
"piece" is available in its full, original glory. Get the version with commentary here
and the version without commentary here. Rock. That is all.

The comp is underway!!
Split 66 recorded their song, "Runaway," today, and it rocks! Aside from the songs that are going to be on the
compilation that were done before we thought of making a comp, this is the first song for it. Was that a sentence?
I'm not sure, but this is sure one heck of a song. Find it and get it here,
on the Music page!

Guess what?!? It's crazy fun news time at HalfCab Records.
Today, a plan was hatched. Mandy thought of a great way to help the bands in the local scene do two things:
record some music and reach some more potential fans. "How?" you may ask. Well, I'll tell you. Mandy, and her
friend Katie, thought up the very first HalfCab Records compilation CD! For those of you that don't know,
Katie is active in our local scene too,
organizing shows, helping bands, and even making some music. We're glad to have her working with us, and word has
it that she may even be helping with the label side of HalfCab Records in the future.
Now, here's how the comp
will work: bands will be encouraged to record a song or two at the HalfCab Records studio, or at a studio of
their choice. Songs done at the HalfCab Records studio will cost only a nominal amount, like $25/song, and this money
will be used in our production costs later. Once we've amassed a CD's worth of songs, we'll produce it on the
HalfCab Records label. I've done releases for my band, The Venkmans, before, so I know how to
make a good-looking independent release. Once it's all done, we'll be able to sell the comp at shows and from
this site, and bands will be able to get copies from us at-cost (what it costs us to make the CD's) to sell for
themselves, if they want to. See? Exposure and cheap recording. And it was said that a compilation would come,
and it would be good.
Preliminary plans:
Name: *undecided* Help us pick one!!
Label: HalfCab Records
Bands:
Stupid Hero
Better Than You
Hello Disaster
Split 66
The Wagners
Mr. Vas Deferens
Mikey & Tim
Drone
Third Fret
The Decency Squad
Note: This CD will be mostly things recorded at the HalfCab Records studio, and it's being put out on the HalfCab
Records label. These two entities, although they share the same name, are slightly different. The studio is just
that, a studio. The label is just that, a label. They don't have to work together, but they often do because it's
convenient when you run both.
The first HalfCab Records comp CD, coming soon to a CD player near you.

Did you come from Band Aid? Welcome to the HalfCab Records website. Find out more about the studio in the
Info section, hear some of what we've recorded on the Music

New songs on the music page!! Also, the Stupid Hero songs now have descriptions. For real,
go check out the new stuff. The two new ones are below the three Stupid Hero ones. They're "Ryan's Poem" and "Fantasie Pastorale Hongroise."
Also, I'm working on the Links section now. Let me know if you have something that belongs there!
