To Bring...
- If you want it recorded, it's a good idea to bring it. That is, don't assume we have a rare African Finger Piano. If you need it for your song, bringing it along might save you an annoying trip back home.
- Extra strings, extra reeds, extra sticks, extra ANYTHING YOU HAVE EXTRA. That is, unless you enjoy making a last-minute trip to Mars or Guitar Center.
- Spare change, so you can go get food if you want it.
- Or, better yet, just bring food...and also give us some :)
- Headphones that you know, so that you can listen to what you have recorded and be able to tell how it will sound on your stuff when you get home
- At least one car with a CD player, so that after you record, you can hear what the rough mix sounds like on a system you know. Of course, it takes some good mixing time to make things sound right, but this will help you compare.
- TO NOT BRING: People that aren't important to the things you want to record, ie friends with short attention spans
To do...
- Tune your drums before you come. (well, and everything else, too.)
- Know what you want to record and be good at it. "Fix it in the mix" won't fix a terrible performance :)
- Behave in the studio. Please. Don't come drunk or high or stupid. If we have to baby sit your moron band, we'll be angry.
- Read the studio contract before arriving at the studio to record. You HAVE to
sign it if you want to record, so you might as well read it.
