Come spend a year in Washington, DC, as an APA fellow in a congressional office or federal science agency!

The American Psychological Association invites applications for the 2017 – 2018 Congressional Fellowships and Executive Branch Science Fellowship.

The APA Congressional Fellowship Program offers two psychologists the unique opportunity to spend a year on Capitol Hill working as special legislative assistants in a U.S. House or Senate office. The Congressional Fellows engage in a diverse range of policymaking activities, such as drafting legislation, writing speeches, meeting with constituents and outside groups, and conducting background research. Through funding from the American Psychological Foundation, one of the Congressional Fellowship positions is available to psychologists with a background in developmental or clinical psychology and experience working directly with children.

The APA Executive Branch Science Fellowship is an incredible opportunity for a research psychologist to work as a special assistant in a federal agency on issues ranging from science policy to research administration. Each fellow’s year-long placement is tailored to the individual fellow’s interest and expertise. Past placements have included the White House Office of Science & Technology Policy, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Justice, and U.S. Agency for International Development. Our current APA Executive Branch Science Fellow is placed at the National Institute of Justice.http://www.apa.org/about/gr/fellows/index.aspx
