The laboratory technician will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of a research lab, including in vivo and in vitro experimental work, maintaining the lab, purchasing and preparing lab reagents. This position requires participation in project coordination, experimental design, data collection, and data analysis/reporting. Experimental laboratory skills should include DNA cloning and genotyping techniques, western blotting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, recombinant protein production and/or mass spectrometry-based proteomics; in vivo work experience behavioral testing and general animal husbandry.

This position is located at 333 Bostwick Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI.

Required Education/Experience/Skills: Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or science fields such as biology, chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in overseeing research projects and laboratory operations, operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment; standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques; sterile technique; preparation of reagents; meticulous maintenance of scientific notes; experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs, ability to independently utilize web resources for method development.
