Huntington's disease, also known as the "St. Vitus dance" is an inherited genetic disorder that affects brain cells or neurons in the striatum region. This area of the brain is related to body movement, emotions and memory.

A group of scientist at the Medical Sciences Campus (RCM), University of Puerto Rico (UPR) are studying Huntington's disease. The team is lead by Dr.Sylvette Ayala-Peña.

Ther author is a doctral student at RCM-UPR and a member of Ciencia Puerto Rico.
