The first epidemiological study of the manatee population of Puerto Rico will be conducted in the south of the island with the participation of 60 biologists, veterinarians, technicians, students and volunteers.

The manatí was designated as national mammal by the Governor of Puerto Rico. September 7th was named the day of the conservationa of the caribbean manati in Puerto Rico.
