Gerardo E. Alvarado León, journalist for El Nuevo Día was awarded an investigative journalism fellowship from the Instituto de Formación Periodística (IFP), which will allow him to complete research about the protection of beaches in Puerto Rico.

The American Geosciences Institute is accepting applications for the 2016 AGI/Schlumberger Fellowship in Geoscience Communication. The successful candidate will play a leading role in AGI’s innovative Critical Issues program, which makes geoscience information accessible to decision makers at federal, state, and local levels.

San Juan, PR - Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR), an online network designed in 2006 to connect people interested in science and Puerto Rico, has been profiled in the prestigious scientific journal PLoS Biology as a model to link scientists from groups traditionally underrepresented in science and increase their visibility and ability to reach out to their communities.
