La asociación estudiantil IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) del Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (RUM) invita a la comunidad a participar en su Primer Simposio de potencia y energía para la transformación, que se celebrará el jueves, 12 de octubre y el viernes 13, de octubre de 2023 de 8:30 a.m. a 4:00 p.m. en el Anfiteatro Ramón Figueroa Chapel. El evento, que es gratis y abierto al público en general, contará con alrededor de 13 presentaciones y cinco paneles con expertos de calibre mundial, quienes abordarán el tema de la transformación energética de Puerto Rico.

The Caribbean Community (Caricom) is writing code for energy efficiency in construction, this would help reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the region. However, the implementation of this system will depend on the will of each country.

After years of effort, Casa Pueblo's community proposal for the development of exterior lighting with high energetic efficiency is finally a technical reality. The Posterriqueño, which works with LED techonology, is ready for the first cycle of production.

Engineering is often perceived as a utilitarian discipline where innovation is only for commercial purposes. However, many engineers work on solving problems of social and environmental importance. This is the case of Dr. Luciano Castillo, Professor of Engineering at Texas Tech University who has devoted his life—and hundreds of publications and various inventions—to improve the production of eco-sustainable energy sources through developing fundamental research in wind energy.
