Doves have lost their fear of humans in urban areas, therefore we can now observe four species of doves with regularity: Rolita Ground Dove, Zenaida Dove, White-winged Dove and the new urban species, the Scaly-naped pigeon.

September 1st, 2014 was the 100th year anniversary of the death of Martha, the last passenger pigeon. This species once had millions of specimens and went extint. Its story offers important lessons about the conservation of threatened or endangered species.

The Sabanera dove (Patagioenas inornata wetmorei) is an endemic endangered species. The bird has been on the endagered list before, rebounded and back again.
