About me:
|
I graduated from Stanford University with co-terminal BS/MS degrees in biology. While there, I worked in Dr. Kang Shen's laboratory, studying neuroscience and RNAi in C. elegans. In my work, I found evidence that the RNAi process in worm neurons may not act cell-autonomously and may depend on normal RNAi function in neighboring cells.
After graduation, I worked in the laboratory of Dr. Loren Looger at HHMI's Janelia Farm institute. My projects focused on the modification of existing fluorescent proteins (FPs) to produce FPs with novel and/or improved characteristics (e.g. brighter, more stable, new colors) and also the development of genetically-encoded sensors to translate calcium or voltage changes in a cell into a fluorescent output for imaging.
I have been an active web developer for ten years, specializing in modern standards-based design and database-driven dynamic site creation. See "project info" for my connection to this site.
I am currently attending medical school at Stanford University, where I am in my second year. |
