The National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF- GRFP) is perhaps the most competitive and prestigious scholarship for doctoral students interested in a variety of disciplines related to science, engineering, technology and mathematics.

We are pleased to celebrate with you the names of twenty-three students from Puerto Rican universities who received this prestigious award and of three students who received honorable mentions. Only 17% of people who apply are awarded the scholarship.

During November 7-10 the twelfth Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) took place in San Jose, California. ABRCMS is the largest professional conference for minority students in science, engineering and mathematics.

As in previous years, a large number of Puerto Rican students attended the conference. Ciencia Puerto Rico was not able to attend this year but we received news that a large number of students from Puerto Rican received awards.

Through this blog post we wish to acknowledge and extend our congratulations to the awardees. Thanks for representing Puerto Rico so well!
