CAS visits: Elementary

Science for Kids!

Are you a science teacher for 2nd and 3rd grades in the educational regions of San Juan and Ponce? Would you like your students to discover science through fun experiments with real scientists?

In collaboration with the organization Jóvenes Científicos por Puerto Rico, we present the opportunity for an expert in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) disciplines to visit your school and awaken your students' scientific curiosity through fun demonstrations and experiments.

The scientific method is fun!

We provide students with:

  • A short talk about the discipline and career path of a STEM expert.
  • A culturally relevant STEM role model (local scientists).
  • An experiment and demonstration of the scientific method that sparks curiosity.
  • A notebook/coloring book on the scientific method for elementary grades.

What type of school can participate?

  • Public elementary schools (2nd and 3rd grade) in the educational regions of San Juan and Ponce.
  • Student groups:
    • who have never received a visit from a STEM expert in their classroom.
    • with limited exposure to STEM experiences.

The call for applications opens between August and September of each school year.
