Residents of Puerto Rico will have the opportunity to participate in the 'Globe at Night' program, an international citizen science campaign to raise awareness about the negative impact of light pollution, a phenomenon that greatly affects Puerto Rico.

The Biology Department of UPR Rio Piedras is accepting applications from undergraduate students for its 2013 summer research program

Students must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and must send their application, letter of recommendation (2) and transcripts before Feb 15.  Late applications will be evaluated depending on available slots.

Becoming a scientist is a very individual process and can involve different paths as we discover and combine diverse experiences and interests. Although the trajectory to becoming a scientist is something very personal, finding a way to merge our passions is one of the most important things that we can do to ensure professional success, especially in the sciences. This was the case for astronomer, graphic artist and photographer José Francisco Salgado.
