Almost half of the Galapagos birds, 32% of plants and 90% of reptiles are cannot be found anywhere else in the world. (www.galapagosislands.com)

Quito - Scientists and governmental authorities of the Galapagos islands released a statement today calling on the international community to help protect several endemic bird species, including a "Darwin finch", which are being threatened by an invasive fly species.
