With a donation of $1.5 million dollars from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez together with the National Institute of Energy and Island Sustainability (INESI), presented the collaborative project Open Access Smart Grids, known as OASIS. The purpose of this initiative is to promote research on the aquisition of buying and selling services for electric energy in the communities, through a system of a renewable source of collaboration in the disciplines of Electric Engineering, Computer Engineering, Psychology, Political Science and Sociology.
