The Mechanical Engineering Program of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico received a $25,000 grant from NASA to participate in the 6th Annual Robotic Mining Competition, to be celebrated on May 18, 2015 at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The team representing Puerto Rico is composed of: Andrés Rodríguez, José A. Figueroa, Luis Rosado, Julio E. Matias, Ricardo Laureano, Eryka Ramos , Alberto Pérez, Carlos Pesquera, Guillermo Rivera, Eric Reyes, Janice Valentín, Francisca Vallescorbo, Eduardo Cruz, Julio Lebrón, Félix Ramón Díaz, Yaritza Navarro Otero and being mentored by Dr. Carlos Alvarado.
