Job Summary

Morehead State University, recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position as Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities: Teaches STEM related pedagogy courses for undergraduates seeking middle and/or secondary teacher certifications, as well as content courses in one or more of the STEM disciplines. May involve teaching some graduate classes in the College of Education and supervising clinical practice. Scholarly productivity and university and regional service are expected. Must be able to work effectively with faculty across disciplines, departments, and colleges.

Primary responsibility is instruction in the assigned discipline or related field. Additional duties include advising students and participation in service opportunities. Engaging in scholarly activity (research, artistic activity and professional development) is expected.

Qualifications: Must have doctorate in a STEM discipline or in education with an emphasis on the pedagogy of one or more STEM disciplines. ABDs in a STEM discipline or education with completion by December 2016 may be considered. Must have at least three years of successful public school teaching experience. Preferred qualifications: Teaching experience in higher education and a record of scholarly productivity.

Minimum Requirements: Terminal degree from an accredited institution in the individual’s discipline as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Exceptions will be those non-doctoral degrees considered to be terminal degrees by discipline-specific accrediting bodies recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation (CORPA). ABDs may also be considered.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: Teaching experience in a higher education environment.
