MASTER AND PhD positions in Astronomy/Astrophysics available at the Valongo Observatory, the Astronomy Institute of the Federal University of  Rio de Janeiro — Interested students should apply by June 15, 2023

Our institute carries out research in five main broad topics: (1) High Energy Astrophysics, Extragalactic and Cosmology, (2) Stellar Astrophysics, (3) Galactic and Interstellar Medium Astrophysics, (4) Astrochemistry and Astrobiology and (5) Position Astronomy and Planetary Systems. The list of research projects, with participating researchers, can be found here. Those approved must begin their studies in August 2023.

Details regarding the application process can be found here, under "Processo Seletivo" on the left-hand menu. All application materials must be sent to pg@ov.ufrj.br by the end of June 15, 2023. The selection will be carried out between June 20 and 30 and will consist of an evaluation of the application materials and an interview, as well as a Physics and Mathematics exam for students who are not enrolled in a Master program (i.e., those applying for the Master degree or the direct PhD program at Valongo).
