MSc and PhD positions in Astronomy/Astrophysics are now available at the Valongo Observatory, the Astronomy Institute of the Federal University of  Rio de Janeiro — Interested students should apply by November 04, 2024!

Our institute carries out research in five main broad topics: (1) High Energy Astrophysics, Extragalactic and Cosmology, (2) Stellar Astrophysics, (3) Galactic and Interstellar Medium Astrophysics, (4) Astrochemistry and Astrobiology and (5) Position Astronomy and Planetary Systems. Those approved must begin their studies in March 2025. Please check here for the list of relevant dates. All application materials must be sent to pg@ov.ufrj.br by the end of November 04, 2025.

The selection process will be carried out between November 27 and December 06. It will consist of an evaluation of the application materials and an interview, as well as a Physics and Mathematics exam for students who are not enrolled in an MSc program.
