APS is offering a 5-day live course on Becoming an Effective Teacher where you get to:

  • Work directly with a highly experienced teacher on developing your teaching skills
  • Join in discussions and activities that focus on the major areas involved in teaching
  • Network with senior faculty and other trainees in a relaxed and pleasant environment.

The course is designed for upper level graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career faculty who want to develop their teaching skills. Pre- and post-workshop assignments will be required, as well as those that are part of the in-person course. As part of the course, students will develop a micro-teach demonstrating their understanding of effective teaching.

You do not need to be an APS member to apply, but you do need to be a graduate student, postdoc, or early career investigator who has the time to devote to the course before and after the live course. Members receive discounted registration.
