CALL FOR 2007 MINORITY FELLOWS APPLICATIONS TO ATTEND ANNUAL BIO TRAINING AND MENTORING CONFERENCE IN BOSTON, MA

Application Deadline: December 1st!!!!!!!!! The Biotechnology Institute is now accepting applications for its 2007 Minority and Indigenous Fellows Program, a mentoring program for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career scientists from underrepresented communities who are considering a career in biotechnology. The goal of the program is for Fellows is to be trained and mentored by industry professionals on the different types of research and employment opportunities in the biotechnology industry. Through a series of workshops and activities, the three-day Fellows Program, which will be held in Boston, MA, (May 3-6, 2007), stimulates interest in biotech careers and establishes deep and sustained connections between mentors and Fellows. Participants in the 2007 Fellows Program will also be provided with an opportunity to attend the 2007 Annual International BIO Convention that is being held immediately after the Fellows Program in Boston, MA (May 6-8, 2007). At the BIO Convention, mentors are encouraged to make courtesy introductions of Fellows to industry colleagues and representatives, and to help Fellows understand the purposes, benefits, and expectations involved in pursuing a career in biotechnology. As currently planned, the Institute will pay for travel to the meeting, including travel costs for any meeting activities that take place around Boston. Moreover, Fellows receive lodging; meals, and a complimentary BIO Convention registration. This six-day experience is an important career opportunity for Fellows to expand their employment and research options for the future.
