The incumbent would teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in the areas of robotics engineering, mechatronics, manufacturing processes, computer integrated manufacturing, computer aided design, CNC programming, PLC, project management, and materials science. Other responsibilities include delivering online education, conducting scholarly research, advising students, participating in departmental and university service; and developing engineering related courses and laboratories.

The Department of Applied Engineering and Technology in the College of Science and Technology at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky is accepting applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Applied Engineering and Technology beginning August 10, 2015. A visiting, non-tenure track appointment may be considered if an exceptional candidate cannot be identified to teach in the majority of the areas designated below.
Responsibilities: Teach graduate and undergraduate level courses in the areas of robotics engineering, mechatronics, manufacturing processes, computer integrated manufacturing, computer aided design, CNC programming, PLC, project management, and materials science. Other responsibilities include delivering online education, conducting scholarly research, advising students, participating in departmental and university service; and developing engineering related courses and laboratories.
Qualifications: Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Technology Management, Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or closely related discipline. ABDs in Engineering or related field with completion by December 2016 may be considered. Must demonstrate background and expertise in the areas of Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation, PLC’s, and Process Control through educational and/or professional experience. Excellent teaching skills and proficiency in oral and written communication. Ability to publish in scholarly journals and seek funding, either for research or laboratory/curriculum development. Must demonstrate a strong interest in professional development, scholarship, and outreach activities at the local, national, and international levels.
Desired Qualifications: Teaching experience in higher education, industrial experience and/or professional licenses/certifications and experience in teaching courses via distance learning technology. Individuals who can show evidence of previous teaching experience are encouraged to apply.

Primary responsibility is instruction in the assigned discipline or related field. Additional duties include advising students and participation in service opportunities. Engaging in scholarly activity (research, artistic activity and professional development) is expected.

An Assistant Professor or a Visiting Assistant Professor reports to a department chair or associate dean.
Minimum Requirements
Terminal degree from an accredited institution in the individual’s discipline as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Exceptions will be those non-doctoral degrees considered to be terminal degrees by discipline-specific accrediting bodies recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation (CORPA). ABD’s may be considered.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Teaching experience in a higher education environment.

Working Conditions
The Assistant Professor or Visiting Assistant Professor will teach in a typical classroom environment or an internet based environment. Travel to a Regional Campus or off-site location may be required.
