The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is currently seeking an Education Researcher for its Florida location. This two year appointment employs a depth of subject knowledge to the design and execution of a K-12 Spanish language STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education research study that investigates effective methods of upgrading underrepresented student proficiency and interest in the sciences, with the goal of increasing the number of Hispanic students entering STEM disciplines. The position collaborates with university Department of Education faculty, teacher educators and mentors as part of the research team. Results from the study are intended for publication in peer-reviewed science and education journals. The education methodologies and assessments designed for this project are to be included in the development of postdoctoral pedagogical training. The positions works with the supervisor to define a national education outreach model, investigate national science education policies and initiatives, and assist in funding proposals.

Requirements
Requires: MS/MA in a STEM research or education field. Minimum of five years related experience in a combination of teaching and scientific research, including publication in a peer-reviewed science or education journal is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry or a related STEM research or education field with 2 years experience as a teaching assistant, or equivalent teaching experience, will be considered in lieu of the 5 years experience. Knowledge of Pedagogy. Fluent speaking, reading and writing in English and Spanish. Ability to work independently and in a team envinronment, is flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn. Work experience and strong skills using Microsoft Word Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Planning, organizing, analytical and research skills. Multi-tasking, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills.
