POSTDOC POSITION AVAILABLE:  MONTALVO-ORTIZ LAB AT YALE UNIVERSITY

NEUROGENETICS & PSYCHIATRIC GENOMICS

Postdoc and postgrad positions are available in Montalvo-Ortiz lab at Yale Department of Psychiatry, Division of Human Genetics. The primary research focus is the study of genomics and epigenomics of psychiatric disorders in human peripheral and postmortem brain tissue. We also investigate psychiatric genomics in admixed Latinx populations.

The candidate will be working with Dr. Janitza Montalvo-Ortiz applying genome-wide approaches to elucidate the genetic and epigenetic factors associated with psychiatric disorders including substance abuse, depression, and trauma (child abuse, combat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder). Multi-omics datasets (genomics, methylomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) are investigated to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and identify predictors or biomarkers for these disorders. Our work is funded by the National Institute of Health and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

The Candidate:

A successful candidate will be enthusiastic and with strong interest in neuroepigenetics and psychiatric genomics. Expertise in one of the following is required: bioinformatics, statistics, genetic epidemiology, psychiatric genetics, and neuroscience. Strong coding and/or programming skills and previous experience in R, UNIX or PYTHON are also required. Postdoc applicants must have, or be about to be awarded, a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.
