The Physics & Electronics Department at The University of Puerto Rico – Humacao Campus seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The successful candidate will teach courses in the department and is expected to have a strong research program in his/her area of expertise.


Qualifications:
 PhD in Astronomy or Astrophysics, Post-Doctoral Experience Preferred.
 Demonstrated evidence of potential for excellent teaching and scholarship.
 Capable of coordinating activities at the Humacao University Observatory.
 Ability to do research involving undergraduates: collaborative research and proposal writing skills needed.
 Ability to communicate effectively.
 Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission.


The Department of Physics & Electronics offers a major in Applied Physics (Electronics). Recognized by the American Institute of Physics as one of the top undergraduate Departments with the largest number of degrees conferred to Hispanics.

The University of Puerto Rico at Humacao (UPRH or UPR-Humacao) is a state university located in the municipality of Humacao, Puerto Rico. The campus is home to the UPRH Observatory, a small observatory with open house activities during the academic year.
