The Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Obesity Branch in the NIDDK intramural program at the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland is seeking an outstanding scientist (MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) to direct a vigorous, innovative research program focused on diabetes, metabolic disorders, or obesity. We are seeking the strongest possible candidate and thus are flexible about the specific research topic within these areas. Research topics could include 1) central nervous system control of energy homeostasis, 2) insulin signaling and action, and 3) pancreatic islet biology. Applicants must also have mentoring skills and work well in a collaborative environment. The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent, world-class research program complementary to current investigations within the NIDDK intramural program. The position comes with generous start up funds and on-going support will be provided from intramural research funds. There are strong interactions among the independent research groups, and the position offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration within NIDDK and throughout NIH.
