The University of Connecticut Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources invites applications for two tenure-track positions available in the Department.  Both positions are nine-month full-time appointments with a 50% teaching/50% research assignment.

Position 1: Assistant or Associate Professor: research responsibilities: Establish an independent funded research program in areas of nutritional immunology, with focus on diet-induced changes in immune functions, and molecular mechanisms whereby food components and nutrients modulate immune and inflammatory responses in cells, animal models, or humans. 

Position 2: Assistant Professor; research responsibilities: Establish an independent funded research program in areas of diet and chronic disease, with focus on micronutrients or bioactive food components and their molecular mechanisms of action. 

Responsibilities for both positions: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; advise/mentor undergraduate, masters and doctoral students; provide professional and public service; serve as a supporting member for the Diet and Health Initiative (http://www.dietandhealth.uconn.edu/). 

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in nutrition or related discipline; productive research as evidenced by publications and extramural support for his/her research program; commitment to the Department’s vision and mission; effective teaching skills; excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. 

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to synergize with nutritional sciences faculty; ability to advise undergraduate and graduate students; postdoctoral experience.
