CyberEnvironments and Technologies/Dark Energy Survey
Postdoctoral Research Associate
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions available. The Dark Energy Survey will soon begin five years of operations to produce a 5 color map of 5000 square degrees of the southern sky. The person holding this position will work with a group of scientists and research programmers from NSCA and other institutions to process and analyze the data and participate in the overall operations of the survey. The person will also participate in continuing software development for overall operation of the survey. Some tasks may be time-critical to keep data collection at the telescope as efficient as possible. The incumbent will also work to identify issues in the processing system and incorporate enhancements to the science codes and scientific quality controls into the DES Data Management System. The position includes a 50% science fraction, with faculty mentoring provided by the Illinois Astronomy Department.
