We invite you to participate this research study, which aims to clarify the factors that influence the career development of individuals who received a Ph.D. in the biomedical, behavioral, or physical sciences between 2007-2012. All eligible participants who complete this 5-10 minute questionnaire by December 15, 2012 will be entered into a drawing for one of ten, $100 Amazon.com gift cards:

Eligible participants are 18 years of age or older, and US Citizens and Permanent residents who completed their Ph.D. in the biomedical, behavioral, or physical sciences between January 1, 2007-December 31, 2012. The biomedical, behavioral, and physical sciences are defined broadly; this includes, but is not limited to, the following disciplines:

Biochemistry, cellular biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, pathology, pathobiology, pharmacology, physiology, toxicology, virology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computational biology, biostatistics, biomedical informatics, structural biology, systems biology, biophysics, chemical biology, chemistry, biological chemistry, psychology, sociology, and public health feilds. We also include anyone whose work can have biomedical applications. 

If you are unsure if you qualify we invite you to complete the questionnaire (When in doubt, fill it out!)

We aim to sample as large and diverse a population as possible (with respect to race, gender, and career track), and ask that you please forward this invitation to other eligible participants. This includes:

· Colleagues from graduate school who received their Ph.D. between 2007-2012
· Current postdocs at your institution
· Former postdocs at your institution
· Anyone else you know who fits the criteria for the study!

Participation in this study is completely voluntary. The study has been approved by The University of Maryland Research Compliance Office for the review of human participant research (IRB 373799-1). The data collected will only be utilized for research purposes and no identifiable information will be disclosed. The research program is under the direction of Dr. Kimberly Griffin, Associate Professor of Education at The University of Maryland, College Park and Dr. Kenneth Gibbs, Jr., AAAS Science and Technology Fellow.
