A research technician position is currently open in the laboratory of Dr. Eric Schreiter and Dr. Zarixia Zavala-Ruiz in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. The position is funded for at least three years by a grant from the NSF to enhance the Macromolecular X-ray Crystallography Core facility (MXCC). The technician will primarily be responsible for helping set up, operating, and training users on the use of new robotics instrumentation for protein crystallization. It is expected that the technician will also contribute to collaborative structural biology projects within the MXCC.
We are accepting application at the Bachelors and Masters degree levels. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field and have previous research experience with protein samples. Previous experience with structural biology or x-ray crystallography is not required. We seek someone who is responsible, not afraid to take on new challenges, and can work well collaboratively.
