Duties and responsibilities:
The Electrophysiology Core Laboratory at The Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease is seeking an experienced electrophysiologist to join an interactive team providing electrophysiology support for multiple neurodegenerative disease project teams. This position will support investigators interested in performing experiments in cultured neurons and acute brain slices aimed at understanding cellular, synaptic and network dysfunction in Alzheimer’s disease and other types of neurodegenerative disorders.  The successful candidate will be highly motivated and capable of supporting multiple projects, designing experimental protocols, analyzing, interpreting and presenting data at group meetings.  

Education/skills experience required:
Demonstrated experience in a broad range of electrophysiological methods, including preparation of hippocampal slices, extracellular field recordings and whole-cell patch-clamp recordings in voltage- and current-clamp. Excellent knowledge, technical skills, organizational capabilities, interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment are essential.  Working knowledge of electrophysiological acquisition and analysis software pClamp and WinLTP, and coding capabilities in Igor, MatLab or Python are also desired.
