MelaTech LLC is dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity to our team while providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants.

MelaTech LLC is a Johns Hopkins University spinoff biotech startup founded in 2018 to produce fungal melanin at industrial scales and to develop melanin-based biotechnologies for a variety of commercial applications. The unique optical and physicochemical properties of melanin polymers have tremendous commercialization potential but access to natural melanin is currently limited to cuttlefish at ~$460/g, which prohibits the development of commercial products. MelaTech aims to unlock melanin's innovation potential by producing the best quality melanin from scalable fungal and bacterial sources.
