Two postdoctoral researcher positions are open in Prof. Rinaldi's laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez. One postdoctoral position is available at the Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems (C-SOPS), an NSF Engineering Research Center at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. Successful candidates will have a doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field. Expertise in colloid and interface science, polymer synthesis, suspensions, and/or rheology is strongly preferred. Expected duration of appointment is two years. Research theme will be colloidal stability and rheology of suspensions of insoluble drugs in polymers and/or gel forming agents. Successful candidates will have a doctorate in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field. Expertise in polymer chemistry, surface initiated polymerization, colloids, and /or nanoparticle synthesis is strongly preferred. Expected duration of appointment is two years. Research theme will be synthesis of multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles for biological assays related to an experimental cancer treatment. Applicants should have strong English written and oral communication skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with biologists and medical scientists.
