A study by Drs. Juan Negron and Nancy Villanueva seeks to learn more about the perception that the community of Cataño has on mangroves. For this research project, both scholars carried out interviews at the Bay View community which is in constant contact with this species.

The Mayaguez and Medical Sciences Campuses from the University of Puerto Rico will receive federal funding for research programs for the seismic network and HIV studies, respectively. According to the resident commissioner in Washington, Jenniffer Gonzalez, the total ascends $607,568.
