Science from the communities
We support community leaders in applying the process of science and design for projects born from their local needs and priorities. CienciaCoLab starts from co-creation, participatory design, and the recognition that leaders and their communities possess unique knowledge, resources, and experiences that, when combined with science, can enhance their work and impact.

Stories that Inspire
CienciaCoLab participants share their testimonials and experiences in the program.
"It was a good experience because it helped leaders—in my case, from the deaf community—to navigate within the community. And to support current and future needs and make plans for a work plan on how to help the deaf community acquire the accessibility it so desperately needs, communication, and many other things."

"I enjoyed everything about CoLab. It was a completely new experience. I learned so much… They worked hard with me to help me understand that yes, things we were doing were science. And that was Monica and her team's job: to teach me how this is science. I enjoyed it a lot because they really gave us many tools and we learned a lot."

"I liked it a lot, and it was a great help for me, as I'm not a scientist. I am a community leader; you work at the mercy of God. [The CoLab] was a tool for me to learn how to combine science, how to do mini community projects, seeing the need more deeply. This program opens your mind to see those other needs to address: in my case, health."

"I absorbed many things that [the other leaders] were doing. It was like a chain of knowledge, because we don't all lead in the same way. And I think I also contributed some of my own... I liked the guidance process they gave us to be able to [create a proposal]. That also helped me later to use it as a strategy for writing proposals for other things."
