Professor at UPR Mayaguez received STTR grant from NASA

Dr. Arturo J. Hernández Maldonado, a professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez received a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant from NASA. This is the first grant of this type granted to a researcher in Puerto Rican.

Calle Hoyos, student at the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico in (RUM), received an award for his poster (Experimental Design Analysis of Stir Casting of Enhanced Aluminum Filler Reinforced with NbB2 Nanoparticles) at the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) conference in Anaheim, California.

Dr. Mónica I. Feliú-Mójer, Vice-Director for Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR) and Science Outreach Program Manager for iBiology, has been selected to receive the 2016 Inspiring Women in STEM Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

This award honors women who work to make a difference in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Dr. Feliú-Mójer will be featured, along with 64 other recipients, in the September 2016 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the largest and oldest diversity and inclusion publication in higher education.
