Since 2018, the Latino Research Institute at The University of Texas at Austin has partnered with the Consortium on Race, Gender, and Ethnicity (CRGE) at the University of Maryland, College Park to provide two distinct training opportunities, one for advanced doctoral students and the other for early career faculty.

About The Institute

Since 2015, the Consortium on Race, Gender and Ethnicity (CRGE) has organized the week-long Intersectional Qualitative Research Methods Institute (IQRMI). Few training institutes in the country focus on qualitative research methods and, currently, none incorporate discussions regarding the intersections of race, gender, class, ethnicity, and other dimensions of inequality.

Dr. Ingrid Y. Padilla Cestero, professor of the Department of Civil Engineering and Surveying at the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus (RUM), received recognition for becoming the first researcher from Puerto Rico to be named a GSA Fellow, after being elected as a distinguished colleague of the American Geological Society (GSA), a prestigious entity focused on the advancement of research and discovery in the geosciences.
