(Santurce, PUERTO RICO) - The Contemporary Art Museum of Puerto Rico (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico; MAC) and the International Institute of Tropical Dasonomy (IITF) of the United States Forest Service invite the public to the inaguration of the exhibit “POETIC SCIENCE”: artistic-scientific views of El Yunque, this Thursday, February 6 at 7:00pm in the Chrysler room of the Museum.

The Department of Natural and Environmental Resources is evaluating the creation of a third aviary to breed the endangered Puerto Rican parrot and help the restoration of its population. The population of the Amazona vittata was once at 13 individuals and today is around 500.

The newly established Puerto Rico Center for Environmental Neuroscience (PRCEN) uses a multidisciplinary approach “to understand the complex interplay of molecular, cellular, organismal, and ecosystem dynamics faced by organisms under the increasingly stressful conditions created by human impacts on the environment,” explained the director of the Institute of Neurobiology, Dr. Steve Treistman.
