The NeuroBoricuas organization is hosting the workshop for New NeuroBoricuas, where they will train interested persons to volunteer within their organization. The participants will join the team of trainers that train the teachers to manage neuroscience school laboratories.

San Juan - It has happened to us more than once that we find ourselves in a hurry and the elevator we are waiting for takes too long to arrive. Immediately, we proceed to press the up or down key repeatedly, until we give up and decide to take the stairs. From a research perspective, the explanation for this fenomena of frustation was unknown until today. Guided by Drs. Fabricio Do Monte and Gregory Quirk, a team of neuroscientists in the School of Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR-RCM), discovered how the brain reacts to a frustrating event.

The Medical Sciences Campus from the University of Puerto Rico is studying the role of cMyBP-C, the myosin-binding protein C that controls the intensity and rhythm of heart contractions. By understanding the function of the muscular walls of the heart we can better prevent and treat cardiac disease. The study was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America Journal.
