UPR Mayagüez won six first places in Engineering Competition in US

The student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez (RUM) recived 23 awards in 13 events in regionals competitions at the University of Tennessee, in Chatanooga. This is the first time that the ASCE chapter at RUM recieved awards in each category and the first time to win that many awards.

A group of students from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, participated in competiton for mechanical engineers in Florida in March. Their planes received awards in 2 categories.

Biology Chapter at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez received several awards

The Biology Chapter Zeta Alpha at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez received several awards at the 62 Regional (Caribbean) Convention of the National Honor Biology Society. Several members of the chapter received awards and the Chapter recieved the award Dr. Boyd B. Palmer, as the best chapter of the Caribbean region.

Karina N. Ruiz Esteves and Fabio L. Tarazona Tubens- 1st place for oral presentations

Rocío del M. Saavedra Peña- 2nd place for oral presentation

The first lecture took place at the UPR in Río Piedras. The next lectures will be hosted at the UPR-Arecibo on March 26 and at UPR- Carolina on April 26.

For the 38th consecutive year, the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez will host the Five Days with Our Land Fair. The educational fair, held from March 17-21 at the Rafael A. Mangual Coliseum, features workshops, discussions, exhibits and artistic presentations. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend.
