(Aguadilla, Puerto Rico – 17 de octubre de 2023) La Universidad de Puerto Rico en Aguadilla (UPR Aguadilla) anunció ayer la otorgación de dos proyectos subvencionados bajo el Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP) del Departamento de Educación Federal de los Estados Unidos.

UPR Aguadilla students participate in workshop at MIT

This is an intensive workshop on quantitative tools and programming languages used to analyze experimental data in biology and neuroscience at the renowned institution. 

(Aguadilla, P.R.) - Students from the Department of Natural Sciences of the University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla, led by their professor Dr. Miguel Méndez, participated in early January and for the second consecutive year in the Quantitative Methods Workshop offered by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The project focuses on undergraduate research, active learning strategies and citizen science projects. This is the first time that UPR-Aguadilla receives a grant from NSF, the most important and prestigious federal scientific agency in the United States.

Two STEM awards for research at UPR Aguadilla

Aguadilla, P.R. - Thanks to the support of the Puerto Rican people, the research project entitled Citizen Science as a teaching tool presented by natural science students from UPR Aguadilla and under the direction of Professor Dr. Jesús Lee Borges, won two awards: "Presenters' Choice" and "Public Choice" in the international competition The 2022 STEM for All Video Showcase: Access, Inclusion, and Equity.

UPR Aguadilla competes in the 2022 STEM for All Video Showcase

It is an online competition on research proposals that address a global problem and the public has until May 17 to vote for their favorite. 

Aguadilla, PR - The University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla is competing with its research project entitled Citizen Science as Teaching Tools in "The 2022 STEM for All Video Showcase: Access, Inclusion, and Equity" video exhibition that will be held online May 10-17 in a voting contest on social media and on its website: https://stemforall2022.videohall.com/presentations/2417.

UPR Aguadilla students win best poster award at Louisiana Symposium

PRESS RELEASE

March 28, 2022 (Aguadilla, P.R.) - Students from the Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla (UPRAg), led by Dr. Nancy R. Cardona Cordero, were awarded the Best Poster Award "Lead Poising Among Puerto Ricans: An Educational Intervention" last month at the Louisiana State University Dellinger Symposium. 

The project consisted of dynamically disseminating information to stakeholders about how lead poisoning affects daily life and testing the effectiveness of the Science Take-Out Kit, "Prevention of Lead Poisoning" as an educational tool among this Hispanic population.

The Society of Astronomy of Puerto Rico in collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico-Aguadilla, invite the general public to their course focusing on stars and galaxies. The course will take place on five consecutive Saturdays beginning on October 29 at 9:00 am.
