Many natural products have been found and characterized in our tropical ecosytem. These compounds have a wide range of biological activities and some potential as pharmaceutical therapeutics.

My main research focus is to characterize the enzymatic pathways that lead to the production of bioactive natural products.

The research group also will:

a) Genetically modify enzymes and enzyme clusters to yield new products

b) Discover new enzymes that assist or specifically modify natural products

c) Perform in-vitro evolution of enzymes to increase their yield or to modify their activity.
