I am applying to MD/PhD programs this cycle to start training in the Summer/Fall 2007.
That's me and James Watson in the picture. I am, of course, to the left.
The methylation status of individual cytosines cannot be revealed via bisulfite treatment due to the degradation of DNA by bisulifte. I propose an enzymatic protocol that might reveal the methylation status of individual cytosines without any DNA degradation. Methylation of DNA is known to be important in pre-embryonic and embryonic development, synaptic plasticity, and carcinogenesis. I am working on this project thanks to the generous sponsorship and mentorship of Dr. Maurice Bessman at The Johns Hopkins Univeristy in Baltimore, MD.
I also want to make a bioinformatics-type webpage with the human genome and information on all functionally characterized proteins so that high school students can get excited about an interesting protein too.
Some day I want to help find a way to confine the energy of fusion here on Earth. I propose using metallic Hydrogen, diamond nanorods, and a combination of Inertial Confinement Fusion and Magnetic Confinement Fusion.
Hit me up if you wanna collaborate! ^_^ or just talk about it!
