Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
Professor of Biology in the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Rio Piedras (San Juan) campus of the University of Puerto Rico. My lab is the Evolutionary Genetics lab, first floor, section 1 of the New Natural Sciences Building, and most recently I have been teaching or coteaching Evolution (lectures only), a lab course in genetics, and various graduate seminars in population biology.
Our lab is concerned with the evolution of the dunni subgroup of Drosophila, an entirely Caribbean assemblage, particularly with respect to the male and female reproductive systems, and behavior. We are also concerned with the evolution of sperm ultrastructure and the behavior of sperm bundles for the entire genus.
