About Me:
Born in NYC to Puerto Rican parents, I am a visting scholar with the History of Science & Technology at UC Berkeley, and Curator of the Museo del Mundillo in Moca, Puerto Rico, where I will be moving to later this year. Have Ph.D. in Art History (UCLA), BA in Anthropology (Hunter College), and was a postdoc in Architecture at UC Berkeley. Recently Senior Fellow in Latino Studies at Smithsonian Institution.
Project Info:
I have published articles on early museums of the US and its dynamics of race and slavery. Most recent publication is on Thomas Jefferson's Indian Hall at Monticello, and am currently preparing an essay on mundillo (traditional PR lace) identity and tourism for the book Women and Threads.
