Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
I am a graduate student who's main interest is to acquire knowledge and experience in the biomedical sciences with the purpose of seeking to succeed in graduate school. Also, by participating in research/conference/symposium opportunities with the aim of sharing thoughts, develop leadership, enhance knowledge, strengthen my skills and accomplish goals.
In my current lab research work I use the budding yeast S. cerevisiae as a model system to study DNA replication and genome stability in eukaryotic cells. The approach is to apply genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology to analyze highly-conserved genes involved in this process. The main project focuses on a DNA helicase-topoisomerase complex that is known to control genome stability in humans.
