The American Chemical Society New York Local Section is seeking nominations for the 2027 Dr. Marie Maynard Daly Award. This award “honors outstanding active professionals in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering who are high achievers in research careers in academic, industrial or government settings, and who have a demonstrated record of successfully mentoring and supporting individuals from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in the chemical sciences.”
The award is in honor of Marie M. Daly, who was the first Black American woman to receive a PhD in chemistry in the US. Daly had an outstanding research career in biochemistry and was part of breakthroughs made concerning the origins of diseases and basic biological science.
The deadline to submit a nomination package is June 2. A package, which includes a nominator’s form, nominee’s CV, and two recommendation letters, should be sent as a single PDF to Daly-award@newyorkacs.org. More information can be found on the New York Local Section website.
