Resumen:  Curricular reform has often been catalyzed by specific events, such as the launch of Sputnik I in 1957, or the 2007 report of the National Academies, Rising Above the Gathering Storm: Energizing and Employing America for a Brighter Economic Future.  Responses to perceived crises in the educational system have taken a variety of forms.  Some changes influence an entire discipline, such as the new math or calculus reform, while changes in pedagogy, including Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL), may be applicable to a variety of disciplines.  Reform is not an end unto itself but an ongoing process in which educators focus on student outcomes in designing the most effective and engaging content and pedagogy.  This presentation will focus on trends in chemical education reform and will highlight efforts by the American Chemical Society to impact the teaching and learning of chemistry.

* Esta actividad es para conmemorar el 50mo. ANIVERSARIO DEL AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY (ACS) JUNIOR TECHNICAL MEETING; 11, 13 y 14 de marzo
