Presented by the Faculty Women's Advisory Council According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, women fill fewer than 25 percent of STEM jobs — even though they make up nearly half of the overall workforce. Many earn less than their male counterparts and are especially under-represented in leadership positions. Gender Bias Under the Microscope: Rosalind Franklin University’s Inaugural Women in Medicine and Science Symposium will address these issues in a day-long exploration of women’s past, progress and future as leaders in the biomedical sciences. Featuring engaging lectures, interactive workshops, and ample networking opportunities, the RFU Symposium will tackle issues such as implicit bias, stereotype threat, and the extra-professional pressures on women in demanding careers. Symposium topics are targeted to engage women and their male colleagues in healthcare and biomedical research who are concerned about unconscious bias and finding the way forward for women as leaders in medicine and science.
