Chantilly, Virginia 20151
The Conclave provides a unique opportunity for women and men of all racial/ethnic backgrounds to examine the intricacies of intersectionality and the lived experiences thereof, contribute to an expanding body of knowledge, and shape the national discourse on STEM faculty diversity in higher education.
This year, with a continued and deliberate focus on empowering STEM women of color, the Conclave will provide deeper insights into theories, practices and purposes related to achieving the highest stages of power and utilizing them for whole career-life equilibrium and advancement. Race-gender intersectionality, as well as feminist and womanist epistemologies will be explored by nationally renowned researchers and practitioners.
With the continued generosity of the National Science Foundation, the Henry Luce Foundation and other sponsors, GPRA Strategic Management, Inc. will host the 6th STEM Women of Color Conclave® in Chantilly, VA (near Washington, DC).
The Conclave is attended by women and men from all STEM disciplines across all academic ranks and administrative positions and, to date, represents the largest convening of STEM women faculty of color in the nation.
At the Conclave, the annual business meeting of the Society for STEM Women of Color, Inc. will be convened. SSWOC represents a national, inclusive and multi-pronged working strategy toward empowering women of color in academic STEM disciplines and aims to achieve the full integration of women of color into the STEM disciplines, while also raising the national level of consciousness about this special population in the academy.
